Carlo Polito appointed as new health sub-commissioner for Parma USL

Carlo Polito has been appointed as the new health sub-commissioner for the Azienda USL di Parma, effective September 1. Polito, a physician with expertise in hygiene and preventive medicine, succeeds Alessandra Tassoni. He brings extensive experience from the Emilia-Romagna health service, having previously served as a medical director at the Azienda USL di Imola and as a medical manager at the Sant’Orsola University Hospital.

Anselmo Campagna, the Director General of Parma's health agencies, welcomed the appointment, noting that Polito's skills will be a valuable resource for the community. Tassoni, who held the position since April of last year, is transitioning to a new role as director of the ‘UO Cure Primarie Pianura’ within the Bologna health service.

The leadership change has drawn political commentary from regional councilor Priamo Bocchi of Fratelli d’Italia. Bocchi expressed concern regarding the stability of Parma's healthcare governance, noting that Tassoni's departure after seventeen months, following the previous resignation of the University Hospital's health director, suggests difficulties in retaining top-level management.
