Carlos Adrián Hernández leaves Cuba for MLB prospects

Carlos Adrián Hernández, a 15-year-old Cuban baseball prospect, has left Cuba for the Dominican Republic in search of a Major League Baseball (MLB) contract. A right-handed pitcher from Villa Clara, Hernández stands 1.85 meters (6.1 feet) tall and is noted for his ability to throw pitches exceeding 90 miles per hour.

Hernández was a member of the Cuban U-15 national team that recently competed in the World Cup in Mexico. His departure follows a trend of young Cuban talent seeking professional opportunities abroad; reports indicate that many high-level players aged 14 and 15 are currently in the Dominican Republic at MLB academies or private training facilities. Hernández is expected to be eligible for international signing during the 2027-2028 period.
