Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega to undergo pacemaker surgery
Brazilian presenter and comedian Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega, 90, is scheduled to undergo surgery to implant a cardiac pacemaker on Tuesday (20) at Hospital Sírio-Libanês in São Paulo.
De Nóbrega has been hospitalized since last week after testing positive for the Coxsackie type 2 virus. The infection aggravated a pre-existing condition of heart failure and led to complications including bradycardia and other arrhythmias. The surgery, which was initially scheduled for Monday (19), was postponed to allow for medical re-evaluation and medication adjustment following a positive response to treatment.
His wife, Renata de Nóbrega, reported that the presenter remains stable and is responding well to treatment. De Nóbrega is best known as the long-time host of the comedy program ‘A Praça É Nossa’ on SBT, a role he has held for nearly four decades.
