Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega discharged after heart pacemaker surgery
Brazilian comedian and SBT presenter Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega, 90, was discharged from Hospital Sírio-Libanês in São Paulo on Friday, October 23, following a successful surgery to implant a cardiac pacemaker.
The presenter had been hospitalized since October 16 to investigate persistent symptoms including fatigue and malaise. Medical examinations revealed a Coxsackie virus type 2 infection, which aggravated a pre-existing condition of heart failure. This infection led to complications such as bradycardia and arrhythmias, necessitating the surgical intervention performed on Tuesday, October 20.
His wife, Dr. Renata de Nóbrega, confirmed the discharge and noted that he will remain under medical observation for the next month to monitor his recovery and the device's function. While the surgery was successful, there is currently no set date for his return to filming his long-running program, ‘A Praça é Nossa’.
