Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega to undergo heart surgery for pacemaker

Brazilian comedian and SBT presenter Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega, 90, is scheduled to undergo heart surgery to implant a pacemaker on Monday, October 19. The presenter has been hospitalized at Hospital Sírio-Libanês in São Paulo following months of fatigue and indisposition.

Medical teams confirmed that a Coxsackie virus type 2 infection aggravated a pre-existing condition of heart failure. The infection led to complications including bradycardia, arrhythmias, and post-viral myocarditis, which is an inflammation of the heart muscle.

His wife, physician Renata de Nóbrega, stated that he remains in a semi-intensive care unit and is currently stable and lucid. The surgical procedure is intended to address the cardiac instability caused by the viral infection and the underlying heart condition.
