Carlos Alberto Vargas Prado accused of impersonating psychiatrist in Mexico
Carlos Alberto Vargas Prado has been accused of impersonating a psychiatrist in Mexico. While he promotes himself on social media as a specialist in Lacanian Psychoanalysis and a director at the World University of Sciences, investigations into the National Registry of Professionals via the SEP reveal he lacks a medical degree or a license in psychiatry.
Records show Vargas Prado holds degrees in Communication Sciences and Psychology from UNAM, as well as a master's degree in Communication, but no credentials in medicine. Dr. Octavio Arroyo, known online as ‘Mr. Doctor’, has publicly questioned Vargas Prado’s legitimacy, noting that the institution he claims to lead lacks official recognition.
Allegations against Vargas Prado include the unauthorized prescription of controlled antipsychotic medications, such as Olanzapine, used for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Additionally, users have accused him of professional usurpation, plagiarism, harassment, and the fraudulent issuance of diplomas.
