Carlos Alcaraz addresses media quotes and kit changes at US Open
Carlos Alcaraz has drawn attention at the 2026 US Open for both his on-court style and his direct response to media inaccuracies.
During his tournament run, Alcaraz modified his Nike Cactus Court collection attire, designed in partnership with Travis Scott. After expressing discomfort with the deep-cut tank top that left his chest exposed during matches against Roman Safiullin and Jaime Faria, the Spaniard began wearing undershirts to cover himself. Alcaraz noted the change was his own personal choice to address the exposure.
Separately, Alcaraz publicly corrected Tennis TV on Instagram after the ATP Tour's streaming service attributed a false quote to him. The media outlet claimed Alcaraz stated, “I feel capable of winning the tournament,” following his fourth-round victory. Alcaraz responded directly to the post, stating, “I didn’t say that.”
Alcaraz is now set to face American Ben Shelton in the quarterfinals. Shelton praised the Spaniard's performance, noting his impressive form following a lengthy absence due to a wrist injury.
