Carlos Alcaraz advances in wrist rehab and eyes return for US Open
Spanish tennis world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz is making significant progress in recovering from the right‑wrist injury that forced him out of the Barcelona Open and the rest of the clay and grass season, including the Madrid, Rome, Roland Garros and Wimbledon tournaments. After nearly three months off court, he posted video footage showing he can hit forehands with his injured hand without a brace and has resumed more intensive training on the court.
Alcaraz has no official comeback date yet, but his goal is to rejoin the North American hard‑court swing, with the Masters 1000 events in Toronto and Cincinnati identified as likely stepping stones before the US Open, where he hopes to defend his title. The injury also caused a drop in ranking points, potentially moving him from second to third place if he misses Wimbledon.
The recovery is proceeding as planned, and the tennis community is optimistic about his return to competition in August.
