Tennis stars head to Asia for ATP and WTA tournaments in Beijing and Tokyo

The professional tennis circuit moves to Asia with the ATP 500 tournaments in Beijing and Tokyo, alongside the WTA 1000 China Open in Beijing.

In Tokyo, defending champion Carlos Alcaraz begins his campaign against Alex Michelsen. The tournament also serves as a farewell for Japanese legend Kei Nishikori, who received a wildcard to face Frances Tiafoe. Other notable players in Tokyo include Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud, and Holger Rune, who is returning from an Achilles injury.

In Beijing, the China Open features a highly competitive field with eight top-10 players. Jasmine Paolini is the sole Italian representative in the main draw. Naomi Osaka returns to the tournament where she won in 2019, expressing gratitude for the support of Asian fans. Aryna Sabalenka also enters the tournament looking to regain momentum after the US Open.

Argentine players are well-represented in the Beijing draw, including Francisco Cerúndolo, Sebastián Báez, and Juan Manuel Cerúndolo. Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev recently secured the ATP 250 title in Hangzhou, defeating Andrey Rublev in the final.
