Carlos Alcaraz to miss Wimbledon and French Open after wrist injury

Spain's world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz will skip this year’s Wimbledon and the upcoming Roland Garros after a wrist problem that required treatment in Barcelona forced him out of the Madrid and Rome tournaments. Wrist injuries are common among top players – former champions such as Dominic Thiem, Kei Nishikori, Juan Martin Del Potro, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and others have suffered similar setbacks. The injury is linked to the high forces and angular momentum generated when the racket arm collides with the ball, placing repeated stress on the wrist joint.

Italian star Jannik Sinner expressed sympathy, calling Alcaraz "unfortunate" and urging him to recover fully. Sinner also used the interview to highlight broader concerns about prize‑money distribution and player pensions, urging tournament organisers to address these issues for all ranking levels.
