Carlos Alcaraz will miss Wimbledon due to right‑wrist injury

Spain’s 23‑year‑old world No.1, Carlos Alcaraz, announced that he will not compete at Wimbledon after his right wrist has not recovered sufficiently. The injury, sustained in a first‑round match in Barcelona, forced him to withdraw from the clay season, including Roland‑Garros, and now from the grass‑court swing, comprising the Queen’s Club tournament (June 15‑21) and Wimbledon (June 29‑July 12). Alcaraz said his recovery is progressing but he is not ready to play.

His absence opens a clearer path for rival Jannik Sinner, who recently reclaimed the top ranking after defeating Alcaraz in Monte‑Carlo and won the Rome Masters. Alcaraz hopes to return for the hard‑court season and target the US Open later in the year.
