John McEnroe urges tennis players to boycott Grand Slams

John McEnroe has proposed that professional tennis players boycott one or two Grand Slam tournaments to secure better financial terms and greater decision-making power. Speaking in London during the Laver Cup, the former world number one argued that players should be treated as partners in Major tournaments rather than receiving what he described as a ‘very meager’ share of the revenues.

This provocation comes amid rising tensions between tournament organizers and players. Following public demonstrations at Roland Garros and Wimbledon, top players have formed a representative committee to negotiate privately. A primary goal of these negotiations is to increase prize money distribution from the current average of 15% to 22% of total revenues by the year 2030.
