Sebastian Korda undergoes back surgery and begins rehabilitation

American tennis player Sebastian Korda, 26, confirmed he had back surgery after four months away from competition due to severe sciatic‑nerve pain. The procedure was performed by Dr. Qureshi, whom Korda thanked in a post on X. The surgery follows a previous operation in October 2024, making it his second spinal procedure in less than two years.

Before the break, Korda enjoyed a strong start to the 2026 season, winning the Delray Beach Open, reaching the final of the San Diego Challenger and posting a 12‑6 record. He also upset world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz at the Miami Open before exiting in the fourth round. Currently ranked No. 59 in the ATP rankings, Korda said his focus now is on rehabilitation and a return to the tour.

The surgery is expected to relieve the pressure on his sciatic nerve and allow him to resume training ahead of upcoming ATP events.
