Carlos Alcaraz confirmed for US Open 2026 despite wrist injury

Spanish world No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz, the defending champion of the 2025 US Open, has been officially entered in the men’s singles draw for the 2026 US Open in New York, scheduled for 30 August–13 September. The tournament’s entry list, released on 22 July, confirmed his participation despite his right‑wrist injury that forced him to withdraw from competition on 15 April and miss subsequent events such as the Barcelona ATP 500, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open the previous year.

Alcaraz has been training again but has not yet played a match since the April injury. He is expected to make a warm‑up appearance at the Cincinnati Masters in early August before the US Open. Former players Andy Roddick and Boris Becker have noted that the bandage shown on Alcaraz’s wrist at the recent World Cup final could be a precautionary measure rather than a sign of serious trouble.

If he competes, Alcaraz will aim for a third US Open title, while his fitness and wrist condition remain a focal point of discussion among commentators and fans.
