Jalisco Governor replaces Secretary General following Salvador Zamora's resignation
Salvador Zamora Zamora has resigned from his position as Secretary General of Government in Jalisco, effective immediately. Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro accepted the resignation, noting that Zamora will focus on political tasks related to the 2027 electoral process for the Movimiento Ciudadano party.
To replace him, Governor Lemus appointed Carlos Arias Madrid, a lawyer with over 25 years of experience in the judicial, legislative, and administrative sectors. Arias Madrid previously served as the head of the State Tax Service (SET). Following this change, Luis Guillermo Félix Castro has been named the new head of the SET.
The leadership change occurs amid political tension regarding water quality in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. Additionally, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that she and Governor Lemus will present an integral water supply project for Guadalajara on October 28. This federal-state collaboration aims to ensure clean water access while preventing the state from incurring a 54 billion peso debt.
