Carlos Augusto Strazzer: Brazilian actor's battle with HIV

Brazilian actor Carlos Augusto Strazzer, a prominent figure in television during the 1970s and 1980s, faced a public battle with HIV. While filming the telenovela ‘Que Rei Sou Eu?’ in 1989, Strazzer received a positive diagnosis.

Due to the severity of his health condition, the production at Rede Globo made the decision to write his character out of the plot to allow him to focus on medical treatment. Unlike many of his contemporaries who kept their diagnoses private due to social stigma, Strazzer chose to be transparent about his condition through interviews starting in 1992, using his experience to promote awareness.
