Carlos Beltrán expresses hesitation over New York Mets managerial role

Carlos Beltrán has expressed hesitation regarding the New York Mets' upcoming managerial search for the 2027 season. While he has not completely ruled out interviewing for the position, Beltrán noted that managing in Major League Baseball is a “huge commitment.” He currently serves as a special assistant in the Mets' front office, a role he enjoys because it provides flexibility for his family and his baseball academy in Puerto Rico.

The Mets are seeking a permanent replacement for Carlos Mendoza, who was fired in June. Interim manager Andy Green has led the team since the dismissal but has indicated his intention to return to his role as senior vice president for player development at the end of the season.

Other potential candidates mentioned in connection to the search include former Red Sox manager Alex Cora and baseball icon Albert Pujols. Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns is expected to lead the search process.
