Carlos Bolsonaro has adjusted his campaign strategy in Santa Catarina following criticism that his initial electoral broadcast ignored the state. His first television spot focused on his upbringing in Rio de Janeiro alongside his father, Jair Messias Bolsonaro, and his brothers, Eduardo and Flávio, without mentioning Santa Catarina. This omission drew backlash from political opponents, including PSOL Senate candidate Afrânio Boppré.

In response, Bolsonaro released a new video featuring the state flag, claiming he has “reborn” in the region and describing Santa Catarina as having the “moral authority” to lead a national project. However, observers noted that the rhetoric in this new material closely mirrors a pre-campaign video he released in June. In the recycled messaging, he criticized a “perverse system” in Brasília and asserted that his surname serves as a primary political credential.
