Carlos Brandão defends administration against Tech Office allegations

Maranhão Governor Carlos Brandão has addressed allegations regarding the Tech Office case, labeling recent accusations against him as false. The controversy involves payments made by the State Secretariat of Education (Seduc) to Gilbson Cutrim, a confessed killer, and questions regarding the presence of the Governor's nephew at the scene of a related crime.

During a previous 2022 election debate, Lahesio Bonfim questioned Brandão about the legality of the Seduc payments. Brandão defended the transactions, stating they were authorized, audited, and attested to by the appropriate services. He also dismissed claims regarding his nephew, noting that the relative does not appear in the official inquiry.

In recent statements, Brandão criticized the media visibility granted to a confessed killer who has produced videos attacking the Governor's honor. He characterized the campaign environment as aggressive and filled with lies, asserting that his legal team is taking necessary measures to defend his 35-year public career and trusting the justice system to clarify the facts.
