Carlos Caicedo faces sexual harassment complaints
The Colombian Prosecutor's Office has confirmed the existence of two separate complaints filed in January 2026 against Carlos Caicedo, the former governor of Magdalena, for alleged sexual harassment. The complaints, filed by lawyers Julián Quintana and Ariel Quiroga, have been incorporated into a single criminal investigation currently being handled by the Fifth Delegated Prosecutor before the Supreme Court of Justice.
Questions have emerged regarding the origins of the allegations and whether there was prior coordination to initiate the scandal. Investigators are looking into whether a journalistic report served as the catalyst for the legal actions and exploring unverified claims regarding a possible 20 million peso payment to journalists. Additionally, authorities are noting that seven months after the public disclosure, the alleged victims have yet to appear before the Prosecutor's Office to provide direct testimony.
Caicedo's defense team has requested a meeting with the delegated prosecutor to discuss the case, though officials have clarified that no plea agreements or negotiations have been established at this time.
