Carlos de Andrés announces likely retirement from cycling commentary

Carlos de Andrés, a prominent cycling commentator for Televisión Española, has announced that next year will likely be his final season. The 60-year-old journalist expressed that he believes it is important to recognize the right time to step away, noting that after covering 40 editions of the Vuelta a España, he feels his tenure is complete.

De Andrés has been a staple of Spanish cycling broadcasting for over three decades, having started his career at TVE in 1988. He is well known for his long-standing commentary partnership with Pedro Delgado, a duo that has been highly regarded by audiences since 2000. During an interview on RNE’s ‘Radiogaceta de los Deportes’, he expressed gratitude for the positive reception from fans, mentioning that he has already encountered supporters expressing their feelings about his upcoming retirement.
