Carlos de los Santos Romano Wins Record Vote in Dominican Chemical Engineers' CODIA Core

Engineer Carlos Manuel de los Santos Romano was elected the top candidate for the Núcleo de Ingenieros Químicos of the Colegio Dominicano de Ingenieros, Arquitectos y Agrimensores (CODIA) for the 2026‑2027 term. He received 166 votes, the highest tally in the election, with 285 of 286 ballots validated, marking a participation record for the core. The vote involved eight regional sections and 23 delegations nationwide.

De los Santos Romano pledged to expand continuing‑education programs, launch a national census of chemical engineers, create internship agreements with universities and companies, and boost membership in CODIA, which currently registers 768 chemical engineers. He is a 1984 graduate of the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo and began his career at Barceló y Compañía, a leading Dominican producer of rum, wine, and vinegar.
