Carlos Germano predicts Copa Sul-Americana final and critiques Vasco politics

Former Brazilian goalkeeper and Vasco da Gama idol Carlos Germano has shared his projections and critiques regarding the current state of Brazilian football. In an interview with ESPN, Germano predicted the bracket for the Copa Sul-Americana, forecasting a final between Atlético Mineiro and Vasco da Gama, with Vasco emerging as the champion.

Beyond tournament predictions, Germano addressed the internal struggles of Vasco da Gama. He attributed the club’s historical decline and multiple relegations since 2001 to intense political infighting and mismanagement. He suggested that more stable leadership could have allowed the club to maintain the success seen during the 1990s, similar to the consistent competitiveness of rivals like Palmeiras and Flamengo. Additionally, Germano responded to recent comments made by Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, Bap.
