Carlos Hipólito stars in Eugene O’Neill’s ‘Long Day’s Journey into Night’
Actor Carlos Hipólito is performing in a new production of Eugene O’Neill’s masterpiece, ‘Long Day’s Journey into Night’, directed by Ernesto Caballero. The play follows the Tyrone family as they confront addiction, resentment, and illness during a single summer day.
This production marks a significant milestone for Hipólito, who performed in a 1988 production of the same play playing the role of Edmund Tyrone. In this current staging, he returns to the Tyrone family to portray the father, James Tyrone.
The production is touring various Spanish stages, including a stop at the Teatre Principal d’Inca, which features a preparatory session by specialist Pablo Ley focusing on the significance of the play’s setting. Following its tour, the play is scheduled for a season at La Abadía in Madrid from November 27 to January 3.
