Curry, who was previously involved in a high-profile affair with Martell Holt, has faced criticism from viewers who labeled the casting choice ‘distasteful’.

King addressed the controversy during an appearance on ‘The Tamron Hall Show’, stating that he intentionally waited until two years after former cast member Melody Shari exited the show to introduce Curry. King noted that he made an executive decision to keep the two women apart on screen for nine seasons to protect Shari’s emotional health, but decided to proceed with Curry’s casting once Holt began developing a relationship with her.
