Carlos Lagrange considered for Yankees postseason roster
The New York Yankees are considering pitching prospect Carlos Lagrange for a potential postseason roster spot as the team prepares for the Wild Card series. Lagrange, the team’s third-best prospect, has been recovering from a right shoulder capsular sprain that sidelined him since July.
Lagrange recently returned to Triple-A Scranton and threw live on September 16, recording a scoreless inning with a fastball reaching 102.1 mph. While manager Aaron Boone noted that Lagrange is not currently available to pitch in regular-season games due to his recent return to live throwing, the organization is monitoring his progress cautiously.
If called up for the playoffs, Lagrange would make his Major League debut during the postseason, becoming only the seventh player in the modern era to do so. The move would provide the Yankees with additional high-velocity options for a bullpen facing uncertainty regarding several existing relievers.
