Carlos Manuel Estefano Pino charged with murder of nurse in Caguas

Carlos Manuel Estefano Pino, 67, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 36-year-old nurse Jennifer Marie Torres Castro. The incident occurred on June 24 at Torres Castro’s residence in the Río Cañas neighborhood of Caguas.

According to investigations by the Caguas Prosecutor’s Office and the Puerto Rico Police, Estefano Pino was with the victim at the time of the incident. Authorities allege that he caused her death through mechanical asphyxiation and severe bodily trauma before leaving the scene. The victim, who was a friend of the accused, was found with visible signs of violence.

Following an exhaustive investigation involving forensic analysis and evidence collection, prosecutors Liza Morales Jusino and Pedro Mateo Casado filed the charges. Judge Karina Díaz Pérez of the Caguas Court of First Instance found probable cause for arrest and set bail at $3 million. Estefano Pino did not post bail and has been remanded to a correctional facility.
