Carlos Mazón seeks full documents in Valencia DANA flood case

The Audiencia Provincial of Valencia granted former regional president Carlos Mazón the right to personate in the investigation of the October 29, 2024 DANA flood, giving him the rare pre‑investigated status reserved for officials with special legal protection. Mazón’s lawyer, Ignacio Gally, submitted two motions to judge Nuria Ruiz Tobarra requesting all documentation accumulated in the case – including files, annexes, recordings, and any other evidentiary material – and indicating that he will attend in person the testimony of Vice President Susana Camarero scheduled for June 10.

Gally also indicated that the defence may challenge certain investigative steps taken by the court, such as the collection of tickets, messages and other evidence linked to Mazón’s alleged involvement. The legal move signals Mazón’s intent to actively monitor and influence the proceedings surrounding the flood disaster that caused significant damage in the Valencian region.
