Carlos Mazón to testify before DANA commission on September 21

The Spanish Congress's commission investigating the DANA tragedy has approved a second appearance for former Valencian President Carlos Mazón on September 21. Mazón will testify alongside Emilio Argüeso, the former regional emergency secretary, who previously missed a January hearing due to medical leave.

Mazón's upcoming testimony follows a document he submitted to court regarding delays in the ES Alert mass notification system, in which he denied responsibility for the fatalities occurring on October 29. The commission, which holds a majority led by PSOE and Compromís-Sumar, aims to conclude its investigation by November, approaching the second anniversary of the disaster that resulted in 232 deaths.

Additionally, representatives from the Compromís party are pressuring the commission to summon Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and his ministers to testify before the October 29 anniversary. They argue that the involvement of central government officials is essential to the investigation's integrity.
