Carlos Nasar shows strong form ahead of weightlifting championships
Bulgarian weightlifter Carlos Nasar has demonstrated exceptional form during recent training sessions ahead of upcoming international competitions.
In Ningbo, China, Nasar competed in the 95 kg category, successfully lifting 180 kg in the clean and jerk. This effort came within just one kilogram of the current world record held by Iran’s Ali Alipour. Despite a training lift of 180 kg, Nasar’s official entry for the competition was set at 390 kg, placing him third in strength behind competitors from Iran and Kazakhstan.
Additionally, Nasar has been undergoing intensive preparation in Sofia, Bulgaria, under head coach Ivan Ivanov. Preparing for the World Weightlifting Championships in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in the 89 kg category, Nasar has reportedly met or exceeded his personal records in the total, snatch, and clean and jerk during controlled training sessions. The upcoming championships serve as a qualification event for the 2028 Paris Olympic Games.
