Carlos Queiroz Guides Ghana Black Stars to World Cup Knockout Stage

Ghana Football Association executive Nana Oduro Sarfo defended the appointment of Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Black Stars, noting that his short‑term contract and rapid takeover led the team to the knockout round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup – the first appearance at that stage since 2010. Queiroz stabilised the side with strong defensive organisation after replacing Otto Addo just 72 days before the tournament.

Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston praised Queiroz’s World Cup impact but warned that the deep‑defending style used at the tournament cannot be a long‑term solution. He urged the coach to develop a more attacking approach as the team prepares for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
