Carlos Rivera brings artisanal Mexican mezcal to Spain

Artist Carlos Rivera is expanding the presence of Santo Gusano, an artisanal mezcal brand, into Spain. The mezcal is produced in San Dionisio Ocotepec, Oaxaca, using agave espadín that is matured for at least seven years.

Rivera emphasizes the artisanal nature of the production process, which involves traditional methods such as cooking agave hearts in stone ovens and distilling in copper pots. The brand aims to provide a balanced, lightly smoked flavor profile by carefully selecting agave hearts during the cooking process to appeal to both experts and new consumers.
