Carlos Rosenkrantz calls for reform of judicial selection process

Supreme Court Justice Carlos Rosenkrantz has called for urgent reforms to the judicial selection process managed by the Council of the Magistracy. Speaking at the 26th Meeting of Oral Court Judges in San Martín de Los Andes, Rosenkrantz argued that the current mechanism fails to ensure the most qualified candidates are chosen for judicial positions.

Rosenkrantz identified several deficiencies in the existing system, noting that it does not adequately test the general legal knowledge of applicants and places excessive weight on personal interviews rather than objective merit. He is advocating for a new regulation to increase objectivity and transparency in the selection of magistrates.

In a parallel development, members of the Superior Tribunal of Corrientes, Niz and Panseri, have proposed implementing these national reform initiatives within their province. If adopted, Corrientes would become the first Argentine province to implement such a system to address what critics describe as an obsolete and flawed selection process.
