Carlos Sainz criticises Williams reliability as season woes continue

Spanish Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz said Williams lacks reliability, speed and a car capable of scoring points, after a difficult start to the 2024 season. The team has amassed just 11 points and sits eighth in the constructors' standings, while Sainz is 14th with six points. In Austria both Sainz and teammate Alex Albon failed to progress beyond Q1, and an electrical failure forced Sainz out of the race, triggering a virtual safety car. Williams plans to introduce a series of upgrades at the next home race in Silverstone.

Sainz also reflected on an emotional 2024, noting the loss of his Ferrari seat as Lewis Hamilton is set to replace him for 2025 and a post‑operative appendix issue that made him miss the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. He returned two weeks later to win the Australian Grand Prix, describing the victory as a proud moment that demonstrated his determination after a challenging year.
