Middle East tensions cast doubt on F1 and MotoGP season finales

Geopolitical instability in the Middle East has raised significant concerns regarding the scheduled season finales for both Formula 1 and MotoGP. In Formula 1, the final two Grands Prix are slated for Qatar on November 29 and Abu Dhabi on December 6. While FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem maintains that these races will proceed as planned, Williams driver and GPDA director Carlos Sainz has expressed skepticism, noting that the volatile situation involving Iran, Israel, and the United States makes it premature to be certain of their safety.

Formula 1 organizers have reportedly developed a contingency plan to move the season finale to Imola, Italy, should the Middle East races be canceled. This follows earlier disruptions where the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix were rescheduled or canceled due to regional conflict.

Similarly, MotoGP faces uncertainty regarding its Qatar Grand Prix, scheduled for November 6-8 at the Lusail International Circuit. Reports indicate that approximately two-thirds of MotoGP riders voted against racing in the region during a private meeting due to security concerns. Despite this, MotoGP organizers currently intend to move forward with the event as scheduled.
