Carlos Sainz scores points at Azerbaijan Grand Prix with Williams
Carlos Sainz secured a tenth-place finish at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, ending a scoring drought that had lasted since the Canadian Grand Prix in May. Despite a difficult period with the Williams FW48, the Spanish driver managed to climb through the field following a safety car period triggered by an accident involving teammate Alex Albon.
Sainz's race was complicated by a five-place grid penalty received during qualifying for an infraction under yellow flags, which dropped him to 14th on the starting grid. He eventually overtook Nico Hülkenberg on lap 49 to secure the single point. While expressing satisfaction with the result and the team's efforts, Sainz noted that the car's pace did not always meet his expectations.
Reflecting on his current season, Sainz described the year as frustrating due to technical issues with the car that have prevented the team from reaching their goals. Despite the lack of results, the 32-year-old driver stated he feels he is performing at a high level and is approaching the peak of his career.
