Carlos Sainz to decide future with Williams during summer break
Spanish driver Carlos Sainz said he will use the upcoming summer break to evaluate his future with the Williams Formula 1 team after a difficult start to the 2026 season. The 31‑year‑old, who joined Williams following his departure from Ferrari, noted that no exact date has been set, but the pause will allow him to discuss the team's project with team principal James Vowles.
Williams has struggled this year, finishing 17th and 18th in Hungary and dealing with a delayed, overweight car from the winter tests. The team is working on aerodynamic and strategic upgrades ahead of the next race in Baku, hoping to improve performance after the summer hiatus.
