Carlos Sainz to drive Ford Puma Rally1 in Asturias

Two-time World Rally Championship champion Carlos Sainz will return to asphalt driving this weekend at the Rally Asturias Historic in Spain. The 64-year-old Spanish legend will pilot a latest-generation Ford Puma Rally1, a move supported by Ford and Red Bull.

The event is dedicated to celebrating Sainz’s career. Alongside his long-time co-driver Luis Moya, Sainz is set to compete in ten special stages covering a total of 126.66 kilometers on asphalt roads. Sainz noted on social media that this provides a unique opportunity to drive a modern Rally1 vehicle before its current homologation expires at the end of the year.
