Carlos San Basilio elected to ESMA Executive Committee

Carlos San Basilio, President of Spain's National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), has been elected to the Executive Committee of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). His term is set to run until September 30, 2029, with the possibility of a two-and-a-half-year extension.

San Basilio, who also chairs ESMA's Standing Committee on Investors and Markets (IMSC), joins the committee during a period of transition in European financial market governance. He will occupy the seat previously held by Carlo Comporti, following Comporti's move to the presidency.

This leadership change coincides with the upcoming departure of current ESMA President Verena Ross, who is scheduled to leave her post on October 31.
