Carlos Slim Health Awards opens 20th annual call for nominations

The 20th edition of the Carlos Slim Health Awards has opened for nominations, targeting researchers and institutions across Latin America and the Caribbean. The awards aim to recognize exceptional contributions to public health that have positively impacted regional populations.

There are two distinct categories for this cycle: the Health Award for Exceptional Institutions, which recognizes non-profit public or private entities for innovative programs in medical care, prevention, or research; and the Health Award for Research Trajectory, which honors individuals dedicated to scientific research that addresses major regional health challenges.

Nominations are being accepted through November 30, 2026, via the official contest portal. An independent international jury composed of health leaders and academic specialists will evaluate the submissions. Winners will be announced by May 2027. Historically, the awards have received over 1,600 applications from 23 countries, with 45 recipients from 13 countries receiving $100,000 each.
