Carlos Tatay: From motorcycle racing prospect to spinal injury survivor

Carlos Tatay, a former rising star in Spanish motorcycling, is sharing his journey of resilience following a life-altering accident. On July 2, 2023, while competing in a Moto2 race at 306 kilometers per hour, Tatay suffered a severe spinal cord injury that left him using a wheelchair.

Previously a Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup winner at age 15, Tatay had been signed for the Moto2 World Championship before the incident. After five months of hospitalization and extensive rehabilitation, he has transitioned from professional racing to delivering motivational speeches and authoring his first book, ‘Mi motor interior’ (Ediciones B).

Despite his physical challenges, Tatay remains connected to motorsports and has set a goal to compete in the Dakar Rally by 2028.
