Carlos Torres Piña advocates for agricultural focus in Michoacán

During an assembly in Puruándiro, Carlos Torres Piña advocated for placing the agricultural sector at the center of Michoacán’s economic development. Addressing approximately 3,000 militants and producers, he emphasized the need for policies that support those who generate employment and sustain rural economies.

Torres Piña identified several critical challenges facing the Michoacán countryside, including rising production costs, the need for improved commercialization conditions, access to water, and better financing. He specifically highlighted the difficulties faced by small and medium-sized producers in competing and marketing their harvests.

He argued that shared prosperity must extend beyond large investments to reach individual farmers, corn producers, and small businesses tied to agricultural activities. Torres Piña concluded that effective policy requires direct contact with each region to understand specific local needs rather than managing from a distance.
