Carlos Torres Piña Calls for Strong Agricultural and Livestock Development in Michoacán

Carlos Torres Piña, a candidate for the state coordination of Defensa de la Transformación y la Soberanía within the governing Morena party, toured the municipalities of Zamora, Jacona and La Piedad in Michoacán. He argued that linking primary agricultural production with processing, packaging, transport and export can boost the region’s economy.

He said the countryside needs security, reliable water supplies, reduced intermediaries, lower production costs and better commercial channels, and that agriculture and livestock should be the main drivers of development in the Bajío region. Torres Piña called for strong, experienced leadership to address insecurity, water scarcity and regional inequality, and pledged to continue his on‑the‑ground visits to hear producers’ needs.
