Morena leads Morelia mayoral polls as candidates outline security and education plans

Recent polling in Morelia, Michoacán shows the ruling Morena party ahead in the race for the municipal presidency. A Datamétrica survey found Juan Carlos Barragán, the Morena candidate, with 39% of voter intention and the highest positive perception among party nominees. An Enkoll poll reported that 68% of Morelianos want a change of government, and Morena leads the overall preference with 48%.

Within Morena, a Massive Caller poll identified Carlos Torres Piña as the strongest internal profile, outperforming rivals on name recognition, approval and perceived closeness to the electorate. Torres Piña has also presented policy proposals, calling for the integration of education and culture into the state's security strategy and for greater funding and training of municipal police forces to improve public safety.

Together, the surveys and proposals highlight a competitive municipal election in Morelia, with Morena positioned as the frontrunner and its candidates emphasizing community‑based solutions to violence and governance.
