Carlos Yulo wins two gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games

Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo secured two gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, winning both the men’s floor exercise and the men’s vault.

In the floor exercise final, Yulo earned a score of 14.666, narrowly defeating Kazakhstan’s Milad Karimi. This victory marked the first gold medal for the Philippines in gymnastics at the Asian Games and completed Yulo’s collection of major continental and international titles.

In the vault final, Yulo achieved a combined average score of 14.599. Despite a strong initial vault from Iran’s Mahdi Olfati, Olfati’s second attempt resulted in a lower score, allowing Yulo to claim the top spot. Hong Kong’s Ka Ki Ng took the bronze medal.

Yulo, a two-time Olympic champion, noted that the victories serve as preparation for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He also expressed that the competition provided a sense of redemption following a fall during the vault qualification rounds.
