Carlton Blues interim coach Josh Fraser lauded as future senior coach

Interim coach Josh Fraser has guided the Carlton Blues from a 1‑8 start to wildcard contention, delivering five consecutive wins and a notable 23‑point victory over Greater Western Sydney. Young player Jagga Smith praised Fraser’s influence, saying, "He’ll (Fraser) make a great senior coach one day," and added that his messaging was "amazing" for the team.

Former coach Michael Voss indicated the club will likely put Fraser through the formal selection process for the permanent senior‑coach role, explaining, "The only reason you don’t entertain it is a fear of recurrence, we don’t go for it (an interim coach) again because it didn’t work in the past." A panel that includes West Coast coach Adam Simpson and Carlton executives will assess candidates, with the club aiming to extend its recent winning streak.

The Blues are slated as favourites for upcoming matches against West Coast and Richmond as they target a seven‑match run, reminiscent of their successful 2023 campaign.
