Carly Simon Announces Parkinson’s Diagnosis and Skin Cancer Treatment

Singer‑songwriter Carly Simon, 83, confirmed she has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and recently received treatment for basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer. In a statement to People, Simon said she is learning to live with Parkinson’s, noting days of fatigue and moments when the condition allows her to focus and work. She added that the skin‑cancer surgery affected her appearance and made her more self‑conscious.

Simon rose to fame in the early 1970s with hits such as “You’re So Vain” and “Nobody Does It Better,” earning two Grammy Awards and induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Her career spans decades as a singer, songwriter, and author, and she is the daughter of publishing co‑founder Richard L. Simon.
