Carly Simon releases first new album since 2008

Singer-songwriter Carly Simon has released ‘Comes in Waves’, her first album of original material since 2008. The 83-year-old artist recorded much of the project at her home in Martha’s Vineyard.

The album features deeply personal themes, including the song ‘Mother of Pearl’, which addresses the impact of her 1983 divorce from James Taylor on their children, Sally and Ben. Another track, ‘Howl’, explores themes of betrayal and forgiveness.

This musical return follows Simon’s recent public disclosure regarding her health battles, including diagnoses of Parkinson’s disease and cancer, as well as surgery for basal cell carcinoma. Alongside the album, Simon is launching a digital archive via the platform Starchive, providing fans access to a private vault of photographs, unreleased recordings, and personal notebooks.
