Carly Simon to release first original album in 18 years
Singer-songwriter Carly Simon is releasing “Comes in Waves” on August 14, marking her first album of original material since 2008. The 12-track project, released via Iris Records/C’EST Music, was primarily recorded at Simon’s home studio on Martha’s Vineyard with contributions from her son, Ben Taylor.
The album arrives following Simon’s public disclosure that she has been living with Parkinson’s disease for several years, as well as recent experiences with cancer treatment and various surgeries. The music is described as a reflective body of work touching on themes of love, loss, family, and acceptance.
Key tracks include the lead single “Howl,” a midtempo rocker, and “Maybe I Never Loved You.” The album also features a remaster of her political song “Share the End” and a posthumous contribution from the late hip-hop artist and producer John Forté.
