Carmagnano and Capannoli adopt new industrial and household waste collection rules

The municipality of Carmagnano in Tuscany is preparing a plan to move industrial waste collection from public streets to the premises of factories in the industrial zone of Comeana. The proposal includes installing new cameras, intensifying inspections by the local police and launching an information campaign for businesses. Carmagnano, already recognized as a high‑performing recycling town, aims to reduce illegal dumping and improve urban order.

In the nearby town of Capannoli, a stricter regime for household waste will take effect in September: only bags placed inside the assigned collection containers (mastelli) will be collected, while bags left on the curb will be ignored. The administration will increase monitoring and may impose fines for non‑compliant disposal. The right‑wing party Fratelli d'Italia has submitted an interpellance demanding clarification on the origin of the rules, their impact on vulnerable families, and the cost‑saving benefits, also calling for the introduction of smart “disappearing” bins.
